So, to get to the Shutdown command, you’ll need to do the following: NOTE: If you have a Surface RT or Surface 2, the icon I referenced above won’t be present if Windows 8.1 Update 1 has been installed (Microsoft decided to remove it). If that’s the case, this will probably do the trick. Hopefully, your problem was just a driver glitch and nothing systemic. After it’s powered down, give it 10-15 seconds then power it back up.
